Fundraising Campaign
In celebration of our 5th anniversary, Hungry Zine is launching our first fundraising campaign to power our community & publishing activities for 2026-2027.
You, our community, are the soil that has supported us to grow and flourish. We’ve been publishing Hungry for 5 years and it’s time to tend to and enrich the soil! It’s also time to seed new ideas and new directions.
With your support, we will be able to grow our community & publishing activities for 2026-2027. Your donations will be used for: 1) publishing future issues, 2) growing and supporting our team’s capacity, 3) offering more community programming.

Join us for our campaign launch event!
In partnership with Zenari’s Little Italy, Hungry Zine invites you to Seeds and Soil, our first community fundraiser event. Join us on Wednesday April 22 from 6-8pm at Zocalo (10826 95 ST Edmonton, AB) for food, connection and gardening inspiration! Beat the April greys in the gorgeous Zocalo greenhouse!
The Program:
- Food and conversation: enjoy a light picnic-box style dinner prepared by chef Chef Filliep Lament.
- A short talk on gardening tips by Clara Qualizza – Owner and Chief Soil Tender of Meadow & Thicket Farm Flowers. Clara grows unique and exquisite cut flowers for blossom lovers on her small farm near Wildwood, Alberta. meadowandthicket.ca.
- Garden design doodling session: We’ll provide you with some materials to do some dreaming and designing of your gardens. You’ll have a chance to share gardening knowledge with your fellow community members, and we’ll crowd-source and compile your tips to build a community pamphlet (that will be shared with you later).
- Silent auction and other fundraising activities!
